In the atelier of Lorena D’Ercole, “Chromania I” e “Chromania II”, were created in collaboration with Tommy Paone for the back to back project. A journey that explores the dialogue between man and woman, not only as figures but as universal and complementary symbols, inspired by the artists’ own bodies.
The works open with backgrounds painted by Lorena using the dripping technique: streams of color evoking the primordial energy of the Big Bang, the beginning of matter, time, and life. On these explosive, abstract bases emerge two stylized figures without facial features, dressed in classical drapery that recalls ancient art and the metaphysical world of De Chirico. Their faces, replaced by virtual reality masks, become symbols of our age, where technology and artificial intelligence risk erasing human essence.
The dialogue between the two figures is constant: black and white, masculine and feminine, day and night. Opposing yet inseparable forces that here meet to deliver a universal and contemporary message: in the face of technological progress, man and woman risk losing their humanity, while remaining bound by the same origin.
