SALVATORE GARGIULO (SGar)

Salvatore Gargiulo, known artistically as SGar, was born in Sorrento, a city renowned for its rich artistic, historical, and cultural heritage. He grew up in an environment immersed in art, the son of a painter mother and a master wood inlay craftsman father, which nurtured from an early age a deep curiosity and passion for multiple forms of artistic expression, including painting, scenography, theater, and music.

From adolescence, Gargiulo demonstrated a profound engagement with the visual arts. For him, painting is an intensely personal and meditative practice—a private space that brings peace and focus. He describes it as opening a cage where no one can enter, and from which he himself can only emerge through the act of painting. This intimate dialogue with the canvas has shaped his distinctive artistic voice, blending technical skill with emotional depth.

Through his work, SGar explores the interplay between personal experience and universal themes, translating emotion, memory, and imagination into vivid forms and compositions. His practice reflects both the heritage of his upbringing and his own evolving artistic journey, making his creations a unique window into his inner world.
