She is a queer multidisciplinary artist, working across painting, sculpture, and installation.
Somerville earned her BFA at the Ilam School of Fine Art, University of Canterbury (NZ), and completed her MFA at Goldsmiths, University of London in 2024.
Her work explores the intersections of psychoanalysis, queer theory, and trans‑feminism, creating immersive worlds with multimedia forms, kaleidoscopic colors, and materials that shimmer or evoke ritual and the magical.
She has exhibited internationally at galleries and art spaces such as Chambers Gallery (Christchurch), Suite Gallery (Wellington), Antoinette Godkin Gallery (Auckland), Deptford X (London), Proposition Studio Gallery (London), and Hoxton 253 (London).
Somerville’s artistic practice is also an act of resistance: it challenges the contemporary patriarchy and gives voice to marginalized groups, transforming fragility into power within ceremonial and utopian spaces. She lives and works in London.
